Seven suspects are currently standing trial at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court for their alleged involvement in the theft of D319,900 from TAF Holding Company on 18th May 2007.
The seven suspects who appeared before Magistrate Amina Saho on Monday were charged on three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, office breaking and stealing, all contrary to the laws of The Gambia.
Count one of the particulars of offence has it that “the suspects on the 18th of May 2007, at TAF Housing Estate in Brufut, stole the sum of D134,000.00, D166,000, Pound Sterling149 and 259.”
Count two of the particulars of offence state that the accused on 18th May this year at TAF Housing Estate in Brufut, conspired to commit felony by way of house-breaking and stealing.
The third count read that on 18th May 2007 at the TAF Housing Estate in Brufut, all the suspects broke into the office and stole the total amount of the said monies belonging to TAF Holding Company.
The suspects, Baba Samateh, Aji Mbenga-Ndong, Ebrima Koroma, Buba Marena, Samba Sabally, Nyakoi Camara and Ebrima Sarjo all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Before adjourning the case to June 5th, Magistrate Saho granted bail to all the accused in the sum of D45,000 each, with two Gambian sureties who were obligated to surrender their travelling documents to the court.
