The 13th edition of the annual Brufut Marathon Run is scheduled for Saturday December 8th 2007 in the Coastal town of Brufut.
The Male 10km race is shifted to begin at Standard Chartered Bank at Traffic light on Kairaba Avenue.
Owing to the increased participants in the event, we decided to increase the distance of the event.
The Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA) welcomes all long distance runners in and out side the country to participate to the first longest distance race.
The race is expected to feature Gambia’s top long distance runners and others from Senegal and Guinea-Bissau. Tourists and any interested participants are invited.
The ladies will start at the Turntable, Brusubi. This year’s event will feature for the first time wheelchair Race for Disable Youths. The male disable will start at the Turn Table in Brusubi, the female at Gamtel-Brufut main Junction towards TAF/ AU Village Estate, Ghana town then straight to Brufut Lower Basic School.
The usual half kilometer Children Race is expected to gather momentum.
The 1.5km Walk Race is replaced with ‘kanyleng’ (Griots) race, what an interesting event.
However, the second Bicycle Race will begin at 22nd July Square, Banjul Via Bond Road, Bakau Cape point, MRC, Traffic light, Turn table, Brusubi, Ghana Town finally Brufut Lower Basic School.
The Organizing Committee encourages all interested participants to start training with immediate effect. There are attractive prizes waiting: Trophies, Medals, Cash, Bags of Rice, T-shirts etc.
All participants would pay a registration fee ofD30.00 except Disable Youths, ‘kanyleng’ (griots) and Nursery School Children. All participants will be issued certificate at the end of the day.
The theme for this year is “Run against Illegal Migration’.
