Sheraton Gambia Celebrate Eve of St. Nicholas

The General Manager of the Sheraton Gambia Hotel Resort and Spa, Mrs. Jennifer Buhr, was all smiles as she greeted her guests invited to celebrate the eve of St. Nicholas last Saturday, 8th December at the Kunta Kinteh Hall.

The event was held to mark the beginning of the forthcoming festive holiday season. In the next few weeks the feasts of Eid Al Adha, Christmas and New Year celebrations will all take place in quick succession. The eve of St Nicholas, December 8th, is also celebrated in many Scandinavian countries. St Nicholas is the patron saint of boys, giving and sharing. The tradition of Santa Claus, which continues to this day, stemmed directly from the generosity that St Nicholas showed during his lifetime.

The Sheraton Gambia management used the occasion as an opportunity to thank all those who have patronised the establishment throughout the last year. They feted their partners in Government, Diplomatic Missions, NGO’s and representatives of the banking sector along with a host of others.

The evening was characterised by fun, hot and cold canapés, drinks, cocktails and rousing live entertainment. A souvenir photograph was taken by Mrs. Buhr to commemorate the happy occasion.
