The principal of Model Senior Secondary School in Busumbala village, Mr. Ague Isaac, over the weekend awarded scholarships to the four best student athletes of the school at a colourful ceremony.

The announcement to award scholarships to the four best students was revealed by the Principal of the school while handing over cash prizes to Green, Yellow and Blue houses at the end of an inter-house athletic competition organised by the school. The prizes ranged from D1000, D800 and D600 respectively.

According to him, the best four athletes will enjoy a three-year scholarship during their period of education in the school. He added that any student that emerged first in two events will also benefit from a one-year scholarship.

He said this is to motivate students to take part in sporting events in order to be ready to represent the school at inter school competition.

He urged the students to participate in sports in order to become professionals and to be able to represent the country at international competitions.

He commended those who took part in the event for making it a success.
