Sun Beach Hotel hosts arts exhibition

Sun Beach Hotel, located in Cape Point, Bakau on December 28 2007, hosted an arts exhibition featuring works of Mr Babucarr Etu Ndow, a renowned Gambian artist.

The rare artistic work showbiz was held in the conferance hall of the hotel.

The event was graced by the management and staff of the hotel, officials from The Gambia Tourism Authority (GTA), journalists, tourists and other lovers of arts and culture.

Mr Babucarr Etu Ndow, speaking to Arts and Culture at the site of the exhibition, spoke at lenght on the role of artists in any given community and his career as an artist with twenty-five years of experience in the profession.

Mr Ndow did not hesitate to interpret in words the meanings of each of his paintings hanging on display in the hall. He described arts as a noble profession which, deserves promotion and development in the country, Africa and the world at large.

He noted that the exhibition is an opprotunity to show people what Gambian artist can do and what the art community has in store for people in The Gambia. He thanked the Sun Beach Hotel management and staff for according him the opportunity to exhibit his work in the hotel.

Mr Olivier Petit general manager, Sun Beach Hotel, described the exhibition as a real indication of his hotel’s commitment towards promoting the spirit of arts and culture in The Gambia and beyond.

The Sun Beach general manager (GM) hailed Mr Babucarr Etu Ndow as a hardworking and creative artist, whose connection with the Sun Beach Hotel started way back when the hotel just started operations as he participated in the decoration and painting of the hotel.

He revelated that the exhibited work will be later transferred into the lounge hall of the hotel which will accord tourist and other visitors the opportunity to see what the Gambia artists can offers.

Mr Olivier Petit, took the opportunity to urge other Gambian artists to remain stead fast, saying arts is a noble profession, which needs to be encouraged in the interest of sustainable socio-economic and human development. He assured of his hotle’s readiness to support the arts community whenever the need arises.
