Over 300 people from Upper Fulladou West Constituency, on Saturday November 1, embarked on a massive cleansing exercise at the Bansang Hospital, in the Central River Region (CRR). The exercise was led by the Regional Governor, Alhagie Ganyie Touray, Muhammadou M5 Jallow, the National Assembly Member of the area, as well as the District Chief.
Addressing the people after the exercise, Governor Alhagie Ganyie Touray thanked the people for their active participation in the exercise. He said the hospital belongs to them and that they should participate in any event taking place there. He commended the two Alkalolu (Mamadou Baldeh and Amadou Deganda), who donated bulls for the exercise.
The NAM of the area, Hon Muhammadou M5 Jallow and Hon Sainey Mbye, NAM for Upper Saloum, said the hospital has a large catchment area and that environmental sanitation will reduce the potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The two NAMs thanked the people of Upper Fulladou West for responding fully to the national call by President Yahya Jammeh.
The Principal Nursing Officer at Bansang Hospital, Wandifa Samateh, said cleanliness is part of health care and is one of the government’s primary objectives. He noted that cleaning our environment is one way of reducing malaria.
