The swearing-in and flag raising ceremony of the newly appointed Chief of Niamina West, Yerro Giddeh Bah, was held last Saturday at his home village of Mali Kunda in the CRR South. Presided over by the Governor of CRR, Alh. Ganyie Touray, the colourful ceremony brought together important dignitaries, including the governor of LRR, Modou Soma Jobe and the deputy Governor of CRR, Lamin Darboe; Hon. Sainey Mbye, National Assembly Member for Upper Saloum; chiefs, security personnel; CEO Jangjangbureh Area Council; well wishers; and a cross section of APRC militants.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor of CRR, the Governor of LRR, Modou Soma Jobe, called on the people of Niamina West to rally behind their newly appointed chief. He advised them to be law-abiding and to desist from anything that would bring disunity. He advised the new chief to rule wisely.
The National Assembly Member for Niamina Dankunku, Hon. Essa Saidy Khan, described APRC as “a blessing for the nation, particularly Niamina, citing the series of projects that have been implemented by the government. He seized the opportunity to call on the militants to put up their support in helping the chief to attain his development objectives.
For his part, Bakary Jam Jawo,Chief of Janjangbureh, said that Yerro had been tasked with a big responsibility, and he urged him to take-up the challenges amicably. He called for respect for leadership.
Other speakers included the lady councillor, Mambally Dem, the former chief, Ngane Dampha. Also in attendance was Mr Maku Ceesay, Chairman of Janjangbureh Area Council.
