A fatal feud between two blood brothers, who shared the same names resulted in the death of the elder brother, at Dimbaya village in Kombo Central, Western Region, the Daily Observer can reveal.
Jawo Jallow, the younger brother, allegedly chopped off his brother’s neck in a deadly assault, following a heated brawl, which was sparked by the younger brother’s suspicion that the elder brother was in love with his wife.
According to our sources, the brawl was initially defused by family members and the two brothers then went to fetch charcoal at a forest in the southern Senegalese region of Casamance, where they reportedly re-entered in a scuffle, leading to the killing.
Contacted on the incident, Inspector Sulayman Secka, Spokeperson of the Gambia Police Force, confirmed the story. However, Inspector Secka could not ascertain what the type of weapon was used by the younger brother to kill his brother on October 8, assuring that the police investigations are ongoing.
However, he told the Daily Observer that the suspect is currently detained at the Brikama Police Sation, helping the police in their investigations.
