Man convicted for assaulting a DJ Monday, December 03, 2007 The Kanifing Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday convicted one Ebrima Mboob of Dippakunda for assaulting Ebrima Cham a disk joker with a broken bottle. When the charge sheet was read to him, he confessed to committing the crime. Handing out the judgement, Magistrate Mbackeh who presided over the case said Cham’s action is not acceptable in a civilised society like The Gambia. He said the action was premeditated and was meant to inflict injuries on the complainant. Subsequently, Magistrate Mbackeh sentenced Mboob to a fine of D500, in default of which he will serve three months of imprisonment with hard labour. He was further ordered to pay a compensation of D1, 500 to Mr Cham.
