The Brikama Magistrates’ Court in Western Region on Thursday of last week handed down a 10-year mandatory jail term to one Abdoulie Camara for attempting to smuggle cocaine through the Banjul International Airport.
He was also fined D1m or to serve five years in jail as an option to the court fine.
Abdoulie was arrested at the airport in June of this year in possession of 52 pills of cocaine.
Meanwhile, the trial of one Muhammed Condeh and Ansu Duku suffered yet another setback on Thursday when it was adjourned to December 13. The duo, who were absent from court for Thursday’s sitting, were early this year allegedly apprehended at the Banjul International Airport with various quantities of cocaine. Muhammed was reportedly arrested in possession of 460g of cocaine whilst Ansu was allegedly apprehended with 225g of the same substance.
They deny any wrongdoing.
