‘Captains Day’ for Fajara Golfers Observed

The Golf Section of the Fajara Club recently held it’s annual ‘Captains Day’.  Being one of the highlights of the year, over 40 golfers turned up on this occasion to recognise the achievements of the outgoing captain, of the last 2 years, Vimal Shah.
 
Prior to the day the club professionals taking to the course, and the winner with a 2 over par 71 was Alhagie Drammeh, the junior winner on the same day being Furcan Tasbasi.

As early as 9am saw golf of a very high standard, especially from the ladies.  The competition used the Stableford scoring system, with 36 being par for the course.  Winner of the Super Seniors was David Clayton with 26, best Senior on the day was Peter Miller with 34 and the visitors prize went to Stephen Yip with 34.  The main prize was in the low handicap category and this went to Buba Jata with 35, second was Tony Tabal with 34.  The higher handicap prize went to Robert Crosset with 35 and runner up was Paul Knight with 32.  The surprise of the day was the excellent scores carded by the ladies, Suzanne Osvari taking the trophy with a superb 46 points followed by Haddy Cham with 43.  Suzanne Osvari also took the prize for longest putt at the 10th and Stefan Banna was closest to the pin at 15th.  All in all a great day culminating with a buffet lunch at the Fajara Club and entertainment by a live band ‘Black and White’.

The club commended all those who organised and participated in the event.
 
The club is looking forward to the formation of a new committee and committed to providing excellent facilities for golfers in The Gambia.
