Another fire outbreak on Wednesday 14th November 2007 incinerated six houses in two adjoining compounds at Fulla Bantang village in CRR South. The affected compounds are Saidy and Sabally Kunda.
Mrs. Ramatoulie Jallow, a resident of Sabally Kunda compound, told this reporter that she was at the school when she saw flames on the roof of a house in their compound, adding that people had already left for the farms.
According to her the fire started at Saidy Kunda, making its way to their compound after burning down the dividing fence of reeds and sticks.
However the cause of the fire could not be established up to the time of going to press, although it was clear that it did not emanate from any kitchen as that structure emerged unscathed.
The two family heads, Messrs Pa Saidy and Bubacarr Sabally, bemoaned that all their foodstuff, clothes, cash and other valuable goods have been ruined by the incident. They appealed to government, NGOs, philanthropist organisations and individuals to give them humanitarian assistance. Mr. Sabally concluded by thanking his neighbours for providing them shelter and other forms of support ever since the disaster struck.
