Integrated Coastal and Marine Biodiversity (ICAM) presented a cheque for D170,820 to the council of elders in Gunjur town in Kombo South Western region on Sunday.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony the project coordinator of ICAM Ousainou Touray said ICAM was established to protect the environment as well as promote and improve Gambian biodiversity.
He revealed that the money is for the creation of job opportunities for the youth of the area and he urged beneficiaries to make good use of the money.
Receiving the cheque, the chief of Kombo South, Sheriff Ajeh Janneh, thanked ICAM for the valuable and timely support, noting that the project would create job opportunities for many youths in Gunjur and environs.
For his part the director of Japady Mr Badara Njie Bajo expressed his offices readiness to support and help the people of Gunjur when they need advice.
