Mr. Nicholas Jones, a British national, was yesterday, 29th November 2007, arraigned before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbakeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to encash some invalid Euro Traveller’s Cheques.
After the reading of the charge before the court, Mr. Jones pleaded not guilty.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on or about the 26th November, 2007, at Standard Chartered Bank, Serrekunda Branch, took to the said bank three invalid Euro Traveller’s Cheques of 100 Euro each with serial numbers BL 014 320 840, BL 014 320 844 and BL 014 320 845 and wanted to encash the said cheques.
He was granted bail in the amount of D20,000 or the provision of two Gambian sureties one of whom had to be in possession of a landed property of that value and the title deed to be deposited with the Assistant Registrar.
