Wednesday, May 23, 2007

A resident of a small Kombo South village of Medina Salam just few kilometres outside Gunjur is facing charges of stealing arms, ammunition and other valuable items.

Vicsaine Badjie was recently apprehended by the police in Kombo South after receiving a tip-off that he had stolen four arms, ammunition and other valuable items from one Louis Gilli-Colley, a German national but also an inhabitant of the remote Kombo South village.

Badjie recently appeared at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court where he was charged with stealing and other related offences.

According to the complainant, the accused was contracted as a watchman in her compound. However, she said, Badjie surprisingly surfaced in the compound one day when he was off duty and stole a container, containing D44,000 and other items.

Badjie denied the allegations and the case continues.
