Jambanjelly Sports Committee Receives Donation

Ousman Sonko, a native of Jambanjelly Village, Kombo South and residing in the United States of America, recently donated sports equipment to Jambanjelly Sports Committee.

The donated items comprise of trophy, two Footballs and US$ 150.

Speaking at the Presentation ceremony Mrs. L. Sonko, wife of Ousman Sonko, said that the trophy is dedicated to the late Kajaly Badgie, Siaka Badjie and Wuyeh Badgie who were his husband’s teammates.

She said that her husband always talks about Jambanjelly and his aim is to help the youth of his native village.

“This is just the beginning as we have big plans in the future,” she said.

Receiving the donation Lamin Kura Darboe thanked the couple for the valuable gesture.

“Only true Gambian will always remember his native land and today’s gesture would contribute immensely to the development of the village,” he stressed.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Yankuba Sonko mentioned that the three players remembered by Ousman Sonko, were good players and one of them Kajaly Badgie played for Armed Forces and the Senior Squad.

“It is a good move for Ousman Sonko and his Wife to recall the loving memories of the late footballers,” he concluded.

The ceremony was attended by a cross section of sport fraternity and the community.
