NDEA Operations Boss Urges Youths Stay Away from Drugs

Friday, November 23, 2007

The Operations Director of the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA) Mr Ousman Sanneh has sternly warned Gambian youths to stay away from drug usage and drug trafficking, emphasizing that drugs are dangerous to the health and wellbeing of a person.

The NDEA Operations boss issued the strongly worded warning in a speech delivered during a meeting held at the Governor’s office in Central River Region yesterday.

Highlighting the dangers of drugs, Mr Sanneh noted that drug use causes mental disorder and has other harmful social effects.
He lamented the fact that some young people have already found themselves living on the streets and suffering mental imbalance thanks to drug usage. He then urged state security personnel to continue to tighten their belts in order to stop drug peddling in the country.

While urging all the local authorities and religious leaders to participate actively in the crusade to eradicate drugs in the country, Mr Sonko challenged youths to join the development drive rather than wasting their precious times in ghettos.
