Education For All (EFA) Campaign Network Regional committee, last Friday held a two-day annual general meeting at Armitage Senior School in Janjangbureh, Central River Region (CRR).
The annual meeting brought together members to review the draft constitution and to held regional elections.
In his opening remarks, Bakary Badjie, the facilitator of the meeting, said in April 2000 164 countries gathered in Dakar to reaffirm their commitment to the right of every child, young person and adult to education, set out earlier in Jomtien (1990). Mr. Badjie further indicated that the Dakar agreement clearly spelt out the set of actions that must be jointly taken to ensure the achievement of one of the biggest program of Unesco in the educationnal sector (EFA) and put up new synergy amongst the various stakeholders.
Momodou Bah, a Senior Education Officer, outlined the government’s commitment to achieve EFA by 2015. According to him, the Education Policy (2004-2015) is characterized by a real increasement of public expenditures on education with a view to attain the significant progress in expanding access and enrolment on all levels of the formal system.
Mr. Faburama Fatty, EFA Regional Chairperson, expressed appreciation on the collaboration existing between EFA Campaign Network Regional Committee and the Department of State for Education (DoSE). He revealed that such collaboration is a source of satisfaction.
