Travelling magistrate Sheriff Tabally of the Central River Region circuit lately handed down a three-year custodial sentence to one Lamin Mbye on mobile theft charges.
Lamin was convicted and sentenced following his own plea of ‘guilty’ to stealing three mobile phones from various people and diverse places in CRR.
The phones were valued at D4900.
According to Lamin, he’s a mobile phone repairer and had only gone to Soma to collect his paraphernalia with the intention to return to Janjanbureh but was taken ill and could not return as planned.
Mbye was also ordered to pay compensations to the complainants in default to serve 12 months in jail.
