Friday, July 27, 2007

An order for the remand in custody of one Bakusa Bayo was yesterday issued by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and Bayo would remain in custody at the State Central Prison in Banjul pending the resumption of his case on 7 July 2007.

Bayo was arraigned before magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh for allegedly causing the death of one Gikke Dampha by knocking him with a motor vehicle. The accident, according to court records, occurred in September of 2006 on the busy Kombo Sillah Highway and at a time when Bayo was without a driving license. The car, it was stated, was also without efficient braking system.

But before hearing testimonies in the trial, magistrate Jammeh advised Bayo to seek the service of a lawyer since his alleged crime is a capital offence.
