New VSOs calls on Governor Touray

Twenty new volunteers from the Voluntary Service Overseas, VSO, on Monday September 17, called on the Governor of the Central River Region, Ganyie Touray, in his Janjangbureh office. They were led by the Programme Manager of VSO Nuha Jatta.

In his briefing, Nuha Jatta, pointed out that VSO is an international NGO involved in development work in the fields of education and sustainable rural livelihood. He said their purpose of visiting the Governor is to familiarise themselves with the local administration and their structures, noting that some of the volunteers are already posted to the region.

For his part, Governor Touray commended the VSO volunteers for their hardwork and dedication. He stated that VSO is a non-profit making NGO which their contributing immensely to the socio-economic development of the nation. He said that VSO’s works in the area of education, health, agriculture and sustainable rural livelihood thus complementing government’s development efforts.

He informed VSO’s that CRR Governor’s office is one of the oldest in the region, noting that it was opened in 1898, by the Colonial Regional Administrators. Mr Touray explained that CRR has eleven districts and over six hundred villages in the north and south bank.

The Governor for North Bank Region, Edwarr Seckan, assured the volunteers of their unflinching support. He further informed them that their office doors are always open for any help they might need.
