Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday convicted and sentenced Alieu Faye, former Accountant of the Stop-Step Pharmacy to a three year jail term without any option of fine.
He also ordered him to pay a compensation of D350,000 to the company, indefault to serve another two-year jail term. Both sentences would run consecutively.
Alieu Faye, was found guilty of stealing the amount of D547,547 from the pharmacy. The money was meant for the payment of May salaries of the company’s staff.
In his plea of mitigation before the judgment was handed down, Counsel Antouman Gaye, begged the court to temper justice with mercy. He urged the court to take into consideration the accused’s age, who is 49-years-old and a couple with the fact that he is married with two wives, with eight children.

Prosecutor Sergeant 870 Touray, stood in for the IGP in the judgment, while Counsel Antouman Gaye represented the accused.
