Abdoulie Jah, who was found guilty of stealing three mobile phones, was yesterday, convicted to a fine of D1,500 or in default to serve six months in jail by Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court.
Passing down his judgement, Presiding Magistrate told the court that offences, such as robbery, stealing and housebreaking are nowadays becoming rampant. He added that though the accused is a first-time offender, he needs to be punished to deter others from committing such acts.
Magistrate Mbacke further lamented that youths don’t want to work, but instead want to live a luxurious lifestyle.
.He finally convicted and sentenced Abdoulie Jah to a fine of D1,500, in default to serve six months in jail.
The said phones, Motorola, V3 and Alcatel, estimated at D9,000, were the properties of Amie Gaye.
