4 remanded at State Central Prisons

Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded four Nigerians to the remand wing of State Central Prisons at Mile II, after two of the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and attempt to commit felony.

When the charges sheet was read to them, the first and second accused persons, Michael Uche and Prince Urobo pleaded guilty, while the third and fourth accused persons, Marcus Malos and Victor pleaded not guilty.

Answering to a question posed to them by Principal Magistrate Richards, all the accused persons confirmed being engages in gainful employment. However, they pointed out that they have not been paying income tax.

At this juncture, Principal Magistrate Richards expressed his belief that the accused persons are unemployed, saying they are economic migrants and should be remanded at the State Central Prisons.
