31 municipal police promoted at KMC

Thirty-one municipal police officers of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) were on Friday, promoted to various ranks at a ceremony held at the KMC Headquarters in Kanifing.

Fourteen of the officers were promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal, nine got promoted to the rank of Corporal, three were promoted to the rank of sub-Inspector, two received promotion of Inspector and to the rank of Chief Inspector, while one earned promotion to the rank of Sergeant.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony, Dembo Sanneh, Commander of KMC Police commended the Council for its goodwill to motivate the officers. “The responsibilities of this police ranges from the protection of the Council’s properties and its staff in the execution of their daily activities,” he said.

For his part, Yankuba Colley, Deputy Mayor of KMC, who deputised for Alieu Momar Njai, acting Mayor of KMC, said the promotion of these officers was a step in the right direction. Mr. Colley urged the officers to exercise discipline and maintain professionalism in the execution of their routine duties. 

He congratulated the 31 officers on their elevation and implored on others to measure up to the responsibilities vested on them.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from different security agencies. Pa Kalifa Sanyang, Public Relations Officer of KMC, chaired the ceremony.

In another development, the Council received a donation of two fire ambulances by a German NGO.
