The Federation of Gambia Muslim Student Organisation (Fegamso) on Saturday held an International Islamic Conference at the G.T.M.I.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Choir, Islamic teacher at SOS High School urged young Muslim youths to come together to form one peaceful union.

“Islam is a peaceful religion and calls for peace. It does not separate mankind and tribe. All human being are equal in the side of God,” he said.

He further urged the two Gambia-Senegal organisations to work hand-in-glove to make Islam strong in the society.

He described the theme of the conference as very vital, noting that it centred on “unity and Islam”. “Indeed, the teaching of Islam caters for humanity at large. All problems affecting man and his environment can be solved through people. Muslims worldwide should continuously promote cooperation, brotherhood and unity among themselves,” he said

He further said that love for one another is important and then noted that Islam calls for unity among people.

Mr. Ceesay then asserted that the government of The Gambia, under the leadership of President, Dr Alhagi Yahya AJJ Jammeh, is very committed to the development of youths.

He further challenged the young people of SeneGambia to be productive and responsible citizens so as to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of their countries.
