As Tabara Samba’s Murder Trial is Set to Continue

By Dawda Faye & Modou Sanyang

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Friday ruled against the application by Tabara Samba’s counsels to start the case afresh. The ruling follows the objection earlier made to the application by Chief Superintendent Dibba.

Magistrate Jammeh told the court that the accused’s counsels did not come to court because they knew that the prosecutor had traveled. He then stated that the application made by the defense counsels to start the case afresh would not be granted. He said he would allow the acused’s counsels to recall all the witnesses who testified previously, adding that he was doing that to ensure that the accused had a fair trial.

He therefore adjourned the case to tomorrow, 17th July, 2007 for continuation.

Prosecutor Jahateh held brief for Chief Superintendent Dibba.
