Saturday, August 25, 2007

The Gambian branch of The Global Unification, will today, Friday August 24, embark on a two-day campaign entitled ‘One voice, one action and one Africa’.

The campaign is aimed at bringing the global African communities together to unite with one voice, in a bid to work together through concerted action and create a unified effort in the development of Africa.
Campaign participants are expected to come from different youth groups and the occasion will be presided over by various dignitaries who will deliver statements on ‘One voice, one action and one Africa’.

According to Anthony Mendy, Campaign Coordinator of Global Unification, The Gambia, the campaign kicks-off today with a football match at the Kanifing Estate Football field to be followed by a procession at 3 pm from Shell Petrol Station to the Buffer Zone in Churchill’s Town. He added that, after those programmes, a concert will be held at the Buffer Zone at 6 pm.

“On Saturday 25th August, a conference and drama programme will be held at the KMC hall at 3 pm and 4 pm, respectively to be followed by a film show of African heroes who passed away and have impacted a lot on African unity,” he said.

According to Mr Mendy, before Africa can develop, people must unite, support the leaders and the leaders should also cherish each other. Therefore, he added, the campaign is geared towards calling on people to speak with one voice, for without this, there cannot be any development.
