In line with one of their operational values of empowering women through capacity building and income generation, Social Development Fund recently disbursed D615,500 to six women kafos in the Kanifing Municipality.
The loan is payable within 12 months with an interest rate of 15 per cent.
The acting Mayor of KMC, Yankuba Colley, said the disbursement of the money was part of efforts in complementing President Jammeh’s effort in empowering the women-folk.
He pointed out that the money would, among others, help Gambian women acquire income generation skills, adding that the intervention would go a long way in reducing poverty.
Mayor Colley finally urged the women not to default in loan payment so as to enable them access more of such facilities.
