Jose Kamm and Diny Egenberge, both retired teachers from Holland and founders of a project called Future, recently donated sewing machines, solar cookers and kitchen utensils, amongst other items, to the St John School for the Deaf in Kanifing. The donated materials were meant to assist the school to establish an entrepreneurship geared towards helping the ex-students of the school to be more productive in life.
Speaking at the presentation of the items, Daniel Mendy, the principal of the school, expressed gratitude to the donors. According to him, the gesture could not have come at a better time. He urged the donors to continue the good work. He finally wished them well in their undertakings.
For his part, Jose Kamm expressed their happiness at helping deaf children in The Gambia.
He also revealed that they have established a foundation called Disabled in The Gambia.
