The Kanifing Magistrates court presided over by the Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake, on Thursday 2nd April 2009, convicted and sentenced one Abdou Mboge, to a fine of D300 and D250 respectively, after being found guilty on charges of assault and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the convict, on the 8th day of August, 2008 at Pipeline, assaulted one Dudou Mboge and forcefully took from him, a bangle and a chain valued at D3820. In his plea of mitigation, the convict begged the court for mercy, adding that this was his first appearance before a court of law.
Delivering his judgement, Senior Magistrate Mbake told the court that the convict was a strong and healthy young man, who could work and earn an honest living. He therefore ordered the convict to pay a compensation of D1500 to the complainant, in default to serve 4 months imprisonment.
