In Kanilai Farm theft case Magistrate Jammeh calls for speedy trial

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrate Court, on Wednesday, told police prosecutors to expedite the criminal case against Bala Nyassi, former employee of the Kanilai Family Farm or he discharge the accused.

Magistrate Jammeh remarks came about when Prosecutor Kinteh filed an adjournment application, as Police Prosecutor Mballow, was not in court.

Mr. Nyassi, has been standing trial on charges of stealing D20, 000 from the farm, while working there as an employee in 2006. Magistrate Jammeh said the charge against Mr. Nyassi is a criminal charge, which cannot be hanging over his head. “If such continues to happen I will just leave the accused to go,” he told Police Prosecutor Kinteh, who held brief for Prosecutor Mballow.
