Sixty-eight interns from the Brufut Gilkock Football Academy on Friday travelled to Kanilai to lend a helping hand at President Jammeh’s farms in Kanilai.
The Kombo North-based academy joined Inspector Lamin King Colley-led Western Region Sports Committee members to work on the farms-the proceeds from, which will be plough back to Gambians themselves.
Speaking to reporters shortly after a day-long work, Lamin King Colley, the Chairman of Western Region Sports Committee and head of the delegation to Kanilai, thanked the academy for coming-out in large numbers to support the President at his farms.
He said the President being the number one fan of sports, it is important for sporting bodies in the country to also reciprocate the President’s gesture by helping him in his farms, the proceeds from which will be plough back to sports and other sectors.
Amadou Jaiteh, Chairman of Brufut Youth and Sport Development Committee expressed similar sentiments, noting that Brufut Academy is delighted to work at the President’s farms.
Sang Mendy, Public Relations Officer of Brufut Branch Gilkock Academy, hailed Chairman Jaiteh and King Colley for facilitating the Kanilai trip.
