Kaur Senior Secondary School in Lower Saloum District of Central River Region recently inaugurated new facilities in the school premises in Kaur, CRR North.
Among the new facilities inaugurated are a new computer lab and Internet cafe and a poultry house that harbours about a thousand of chicks for rearing and breeding.
According to the principal of the school, Momodou Baba Jallow, his school has recently benefited from government and community support, which contributed in the school’s sterling academic performance in the past academic year.
"Here in Kaur Senior Secondary School, we really appreciate the untiring effort of the government and the entire community of Kaur and surroundings," Mr. Jallow said.
"Since its inception in 1995, the school has registered a lot of achievements both in academics and in extra-curricular activities. For example, in sports we claimed so many awards at regional and zonal levels, this is all possible not because of our own might but because of the support of the government and other goodwill partners whose patriotism has lifted the name of the school," he said.
The Kaur principal also said that present day Gambians should take advantage of the quality and efficient education that the government of President Jammeh has brought to The Gambia. "As a matter of fact the level of illiteracy has fallen drastically," he added.
Mr. Jallow further pointed out that Kaur Senior Secondary School, despite its remote location, "is able to compete with other schools, and our results are always outstanding".
He intimated that the success and progress of the school could be attributed to the hard work and dedication of both the teachers and the students of the school as well as the great and wonderful efforts of board members of the school.
"Kaur Senior Secondary School will continue to achieve better results," Principal Jallow said.
