SJAG Launches National Sports Award

The Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia in collaboration with ‘Football Digest’, on Tuesday launched its first edition of the National Sports Award at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Namory Trawally, President of SJAG, said the occasion is a clear manifestation of the interest and commitment the Members of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia have in the promotion of Gambian sports.

He commended Mr Robinson, Publisher of Football Digest for his tremendous contribution towards the success of the award ceremony.

Abdul Aziz Titawo Mendy, a representative from the National Sports Council, said the NSC is very much  supportive to any national association that has taken upon itself to run its activities successful.
 He commended the SJAG for coming up with the initiative to promote all sports in The Gambia and advised that the event  be  staged as an annual and continuous programme.

The Secretary of State for Youth & Sports, Hon Axi Gye, expressed appreciation to the Sports Journalists Association for the latter’s initiative to contribute positively in the development of sports in The Gambia.
He said his office is ever ready to support SJAG whenever the need arises.

The ceremony also witnessed the unveiling of the official mascot of the event, and the list of nominees was announced.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Sainabou Kujabi, General Secretary of SJAG.
