Taiwanese Ambassador hosts Dinner for Gambian Media

The ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan H.E Dr Patrick Chang on Monday hosted a dinner for the Gambian media.

The dinner was held the ambassador’s personal residence in Kololi.

Speaking on the occasion, ambassador Chang said that the gesture was meant to say thank you to the Gambian media for their continued support to his office and country. He hails the cordial relationship that exists between his country and the Gambia. He cited the recent visit of the Gambian leader to Taiwan as a manifestation to that.

Dr Chang expressed his admiration for the Gambian media for supporting their cause.

Speaking on behalf of those gathered at the dinner Mr. Pap Saine, the Managing Director of The Point newspaper, commended Ambassador Chang for recognising the role of the media. He used the opportunity to appeal to the Taiwanese diplomat to consider supporting the media in the form of equipment and capacity building.

He also assured Dr. Chang of the continued support of the Gambian media. He also acknowledged the support of Taiwan to The Gambia. The dinner was attended by staff from GRTS, The Point and Daily Observer media outfits. Also present was the Director General of GRTS Alhaji Momodou Sanyang and Taiwanese Embassy staff.
