The Dunes Resort and Casino recently made a donation of two cheques totaling D70, 000. The Donation was part of a concept aimed at building capacity in the community for self-reliance through sustainable development and compliments the Governments efforts in the areas of education and health.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony the Managing Director of Dunes Resort and Casino, Ms. Fatou Mass Jobe, said that the West Africa Foundation was founded by David Ford in May 2006. According to Fatou Mass Jobe, The Jammeh Foundation for Peace’s principal goal is to effect substantial and sustainable improvements in the quality of life in all communities in The Gambia through providing support in the sectors of education, health, agriculture and youth development.
The Dunes Resort and Casino Managing Director revealed that the West Africa Foundation developed interest in the Jammeh Foundation for Peace and “we would like our contribution of D35,000 to go to the scholarship fund which provides support to needy students with outstanding performance, particularly in the field of science”, she said. She continued saying, “Our attention was also caught by the SOS Children’s Village whose mission is to build families for children in need and help them to shape their own futures and also the future development of their communities.”
She emphasized the SOS Children’s Village work for children who are orphaned, abandoned or whose families are unable to care for them she added that they give these children the opportunity to build lasting relationships within a family.
“We hope our contribution of D35, 000 will help in the attainment of your vision to provide needy children with a family, love, respect and security. Other speakers included the Founder of the West Africa Foundation Mr. David Ford. He expressed similar sentiments.
