Thursday, May 24, 2007

Members of the Diocesan Youth Council have recently ended their football tournament with St. Therese’s Catholic Church winning the contest at Kunkujang Mariama.

According to Peter K. Rogers, the Therese Ayo trophy came about when one of their colleagues Therese Ayo Gomez died on 1st May 1998 at the age of 22. Since then the DYC has been organizing a tourney in her name.

The tournament was played in both male and female categories. St. Therese emerged winners in the male category after defeating St. Peters 5-4 in a post match penalty shootout, the main match having ended earlier in a 1-1 draw.
