In support of President Yahya Jammeh’s ‘back-to-the-land’ call to ensure food self-sufficiency in The Gambia, Kim Kombo Family Farm Association (KKFFA), over the weekend, distributed a new variety of millet to the community of Barra, Lower Niumi District in North Bank Region.

The Kim Kombo Family Farm Association is a new project envisaged to contribute towards the socio-economic development of The Gambia

The project is also committed to benefit Gambians by providing affordable and healthy food produced from locally grown cereals as well as to empower women through associations (Kafolu), farmers and youths from all regions.

The project, according to officials, is eager to participate in the development of the community to alleviate hunger and poverty in The Gambia.

Last Saturday, a high powered delegation led by Nyimasata Sanneh Bojang, APRC administrative secretary, held a meeting with Alhagie Tabora Manneh, Chief of Lower Niumi and his community including the National Assembly member for Lower Niumi and the councilors for Essau Ward and Jokadou at the Chief’s resident in Barra.
 
The delegation was later led on a conducted tour of a 7 hectare land allocated to KKFFA for the cereal production project.

Speaking at the grounds, Chief Alhagie Tabora Manneh welcomed the project to his area and noted that it has come at a good time.
