A 17-year-old girl of Sami Sotokoi village in Central River Region last Friday succumbed to snake bite few hours after she was bitten.
According to our provincial reporter, Maimuna Jobe was bitten by a poisonous snake just after the Isha’a prayers as she and her friends were going to Koli Kunda village 200m from Sotokoi.

“We heard Maimuna scream and it was later realized that she had been bitten by a poisonous snake. She was then rushed to the hospital but died on the way,” narrated one of the deceased’s friends.

Described as a sober student, pious and obedient, Maimuna was laid to rest on Saturday in Sotokoi.
