Journalist Lamin Fatty’s Case Resumes

Thursday, April 12, 2007
Lamin Fatty, a former reporter with The Independent newspaper, currently standing trial for allegedly publishing false information, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for the first time. It could be recalled that the case was presided over by the former Principal Magistrate, Kebba Sanyang.

Prosecutor 1748 Mballow represented the IGP. He informed the court that his witness was conducting an interview and was on his way to the court from Mile 2. He applied for the case to be stood down.

Lamin Fatty, the accused, told the court that his counsel, Lawyer Camara, was attending another proceeding and had told him to ask the court to adjourn the case for a short time. Magistrate Jawo then adjourned the matter to 11th April 2007 for continuation.
