Samger beat SK East United 2-0 yesterday at the East Mini-stadium to fill up the final semi-final slot in the 2008 Gamtel sponsored FA Cup championship.
Goals from Abdou Bojang and Lamin Samteh in first and second half respectively, were enough for the league second runners up to overcome the Serrekunda East Boys to set up a mouth-watering semi-final tie against Steve Biko.
Steve Biko earlier struggled to beat Kaira Silo 1-0 with Abdoulie Jatta scoring the only goal in the 60th minute.
The other semi-final tie will see Wallidan square-off against cup holders, Gambia Ports Authority.
The league champions progressed to the semis after thrashing Seaview 3-1 on Wednesday, while Jibou Jagne’s brace helped Ports Authority ease past Flamenins with a 2-0 victory.
Meanwhile, the semi-final matches which are scheduled for Sunday, August 31, may be shifted to a later date due to Gambia -Sierra Leone match in the CAF Under 17 qualifier on the same day.
Seedy Kinteh president of the Gambia Football Association could not confirm whether the FA Cup matches would be postponed, but was quick to add that the fixtures may not hold due to Sunday’s international match at the Independence Stadium.
“Nothing has been finalised yet, but I don’t think that the FA Cup matches would go ahead. However, we will inform the clubs concerned in case there is any changes,” Kinteh told Observer Sports last night.
