Fire ravages shop at Manjai-kunda

Fire broke out at a giant local shop in the Serrekunda suburb of Manjai-kunda, destroying goods worth of millions of Dalasis. The shop was said to be owned by one Sulayman Jallow, a businessman.

Confirming this to the Daily Observer, Seedy Keita, landlord of Sulayman Jallow, said the cause of the fire, which broke out at 02:00 a m, is yet unknown. “We became aware of it, when we heard yelling and screaming voices within the neighbourhood”.

However, he confirmed that the fire was aggravated by unused gas tanks. He said the gravity of the blaze, out-powered some of the neighbours, who set out to quell it. He pointed out that it was fire fighters from the Serrekunda Fire Station, who eventually succeeded putting off the fire.

According to him, the fire consumed everything in the shop. “Everything was burnt. Even the walls of the shop collapsed.
