Hawks Suffer Fifth Defeat

Saturday, May 26, 2007

Hawks FC, the 2006 FA Cup champions, last Wednesday registered their fifth defeat in a row in the ongoing GFA first division league.

After registering three defeats in the first round and one at the beginning of the second round, Hawks lost again to GPA FC by a goal to nil in a match played at the Serekunda West mini stadium on Wednesday.

The only goal of the match was scored by Gibou Drammeh in the 18th minute.
The Red boys’ poor running started on April 15th, when they lost to GPA 1-0 at the Serekunda West Mini Stadium followed by two other defeats in the hands of Africell/Sait Matty and Armed Forces at the end of the first round.

Their dream of regaining their position on the table was frustrated by another defeat last Saturday when they were beaten by the bottom table holder Africell/Sait Matty by 2-1 in the opener of the second round.
Their hope of coming back on the table was again short lifted when they lost to GPA by a goal in the week 11 fixtures on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the Week 12 fixtures will start tomorrow Saturday May 26, with Gamtel taking on Steve Biko at the Independence Stadium and Armed Forces playing Real at the Banjul Mini Stadium.

On Sunday May 28, Africell/Sait Matty will battle it with Wallidan at the Serekunda East, Bakau United play GPA in Banjul and Sea view face Hawks at Serekunda West.
