About 9 Ambassadors of Peer Peace Motivators (APPM) coordinators, under the parental body of Youth Ambassadors of Peace (YAP), recently concluded a three day sensitisation training at Sibanor Village, Foni Bintang, Western Region.
The main objective of the training was to equip the coordinators with pre-requisite skills and knowledge to implement APPM activities in their various schools.
Speaking to the Daily Observer, Dawda Nasso, chairperson, Youth Ambassadors of Peace, Western Region, said APPM was set up by young and dynamic people in 2003, and now operates in over 100 schools throughout the country.
According to him, during the course of the training, participants were exposed to a wide range of areas, noting that the training of any discipline is a pre-requisite for sustainable growth.
He added that the Youth Ambassadors of Peace being an organisation established in The Gambia by prominent Gambian youth realised the need to built the capacity of people in promoting the culture of peace and non-violence.
For his part, Yahya Camara, a teacher at Ganack Lower Basic school, and one of the trainees commended YAP for their efforts in enlightening the people about inculcating peace among them.
He added that during the course of the training the participants have covered a wide range of topics, relating to peace resolution among others.
“I will be very much willing to share my knowledge gained during the course of the training with my colleagues in our various schools”, he concluded.
