Tallinding Proper Lower Basic School, on Thursday June 7th, 2007, emerged as the winner of the National Environment Agency annual quiz competition from among eight schools.

The competition was organised by the National Environment Agency as part of the celebration of World Environment Day themed ‘melting ice, a hot topic’.
The aim of the quiz competition was meant to bring young people together and to see their talents.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Director, Bully Dibba, Director of Finance and Administration, at the NEA told the gathering that the quiz competition is annually organised to see what children have been doing in their schools.
He added that everyone is a winner because the quiz is not to compete, but to allow children express their skills and what they have achieved.

He further noted that children need to be protected and trained on how to take care of the environment because they are the future leaders of tomorrow.
Dodou Trawally, master of the occasion,  said eight (8) Lower Basic Schools took part in the competition: namely Tallinding, Essau, Old Jeshwang, Bakau New Town, Bakoteh, Brikama and Wesley Lower Basic Schools.
“All the questions asked were environmental issues which children responded well,” he said.

He further commended the organisers of the competition for their great initiative and then urged the students to read their books.
At the end of the competition, Tallinding Lower Basic came first with a trophy and a cash amount of D3000.00, Essau 2nd with an amount of D2000.00 and Sukuta became third with D1000.00.  All other schools were awarded D500 each with school materials.
