Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital Installs New Medical Equipment

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital (AMH) in Tallinding Kunjang recently installed two vital medical equipment – an ultrasound machine and an ECG equipment - at the hospital to meet the health needs of the Gambian populace. The ultrasound machine is used to examine internal organs of humans, such as bladder prostrate, uterus (fetal wellbeing and obstetric/gynecological problems), pancreas, kidney, liver, spleen and blood vessel; and the ECG machine is used to examine and observe the condition and functioning of the human heart. Speaking in an interview with this reporter at the hospital, the administrator of the AMH, Mr Sekou O.M. Dibba, said the availability of the equipment at the hospital was a boost in the delivery of medical service in the country. Mr Dibba said people could now walk into the hospital and have their internal organs examined by competent physicians or Sinologists. He also said a detailed report is prepared by the Sinologists or physicians after every ultrasound examination, adding that when an examination shows that an individual’s organ is diseased or is not normal, medical care plan or treatment plan is developed and used. "This commitment is derived by the fundamental humanitarian principle that no person shall be denied health care on account of inability to pay for care," Mr Dibba said. He also assured the public: "The AMH wishes to reaffirmed its commitment to the provision of quality medical and dental care to the general public at reasonable cost." He further revealed that since the opening of the hospital in 1981, the dental department of the hospital had enjoyed enviable reputation of being one of the best dental surgeries in The Gambia receiving on a monthly basis between 2,000 and 2,500 patients while the medical department receives 2,300 patients.
