Tallinding Youth Fined D500

A Tallinding youth, Dawda Darboe, was on Thursday convicted and sentenced by a magistrates’ court for threatening to take his mother’s life.

Dawda was fined D500 by the Bundung Magistrates’ Court for threatening to kill his mother with a knife.

According to court records, Dawda has been continually tormenting his mother because, according to him, his mother was the obstacle to his progress in life. To Dawda, he was undergoing through a difficult phase and that his mother was responsible for his inability to realise his dreams.

He was therefore sentenced to pay a fine of D500 in default to serve six months in jail. He was also ordered to compensate his mother with the sum of D500 as well as to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for six months.

Failure in compensation payment may mean he would go to jail for six months.
