Flood victims receive over D20,000 assistance

The Great Commission Movement of The Gambia, a charitable organisation recently donated bales of second hand clothes worth over D20,000 (twenty thousand Dalasi) to 18 families of flood victims from Fagikunda, Abuko and Tallinding, at a ceremony held at the APRC Bureau in Tallinding.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Hon Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Majority leader, said that the donations came at a right time, and will hopefully help relieve some of the sufferings, the disaster has caused the victims, adding that he is touched by the kind of assistance, organisation of this kind have given to the people who deserve assistance. He also noted that they selected a task force committee who went round to identify the most affected families without fear or favour to bring on board, families who need urgent assistance. He finally commended the philanthropists for their laudable gesture and Mustapha Pika Jallow of Serrekunda East for his tireless and selfless service to the welfare of the people.

Handing over the clothes, Bakary Jatta, the Head of the Relief Department of the Great Commission Movement of The Gambia,  said that their organisation has great concern about the welfare of people, adding that their intervention came when they watched on the GRTS, the damages  flood caused to compounds and families. He also added that their organisation has been actively involved in helping victims.
