A 40-year-old Guinean was charged with raping a teenager in Wellingara village.
Wurry Jallow appeared before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Janneh at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly raping a teenage girl.
Pleading on behalf of the accused on the issue of bail conditions, Lawyer O.D. Mbye posited that refusing Jallow bail can cause his family to suffer from want or lack. He indicated that the accused do not have any reason to jump bail if given because he’s a responsible man with kids and wife.
Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Janneh did not object to the bail plea but highlighted that the accused must produce a surety, who must meet the bail requirements, in view of his status as a foreign national.
At the time of filing this piece, Jallow was yet to be given bail and will reappear in court on 20 February 2007.
